The next step in acoustic evolution, the Yamaha G1 Alto Saxophone neck improves intonation and frees the upper register. The Yamaha G1 alto saxophone neck matches up well with all Yamaha saxophones. |

I bought a new yas62 alto in 1995 to play in a local, outstanding big band. I've always loved the intonation and consistency in the horn. I play third alto under our lead player, George Corwin, who has a beautiful sounding 90, XXX Mark IV. Previously, I was never able to match his tone or projection, especially at low volume, until now that is.
The new G1 neck is awesome. The exception is that I had to take the neck to my repairman in order to make the octave mechanism long enoough to fit the older 62. Nevertheless, it's hard to believe that one piece of equipment could make such a dramatic difference in regards to sound. My sound is richer and my horn just singsl Even at low volume and in low registers, my horn still screams. Regardless of the registers played, sound quality is no longer compromised. At first I thought I would have to spend thousands of dollars to purchase a new horn in order to get the sound I was after. However, thanks to the Yamaha engineers, instead of spending thousands on a new horn, I was able to save money by purchasing a new neck instead which granted me the sound I was after.they saved me thousands of dollars
I use a brilhart level aire # 8 metal with fibracel premier # 2 reed. ( love both)

This is one heck of a neck. I personally have bought the silver plated neck to accompany my lacquered CustomZ. It sounds great and produces an extremely rich vibrant tone. If I had to say one thing bad about it, it would have to be that it has a problem with staying in tune. Aside from that you got to love the way the design is crafted.
