In 1976, Yamaha released the first of the CP series stage pianos. These "electric grands" became instant classics with their authentic sound and live performance convenience. Thirty years later, Yamaha celebrates those milestone keyboards by unveiling the latest and greatest in the CP series. Drawing on our rich tradition and experience, these instruments give the live performer all the sound and expressiveness of a superbly mic'd grand piano with the portability and versatility of a modern digital instrument. Introducing the new standard in stage pianos - the CP series. |

This is an excellent piano. The sounds are first rate, as is the action. It’s probably not the action or the sound you're used to however, unless you play a brand new Yamaha grand and live in an auditorium, so expect to adjust if you're coming from anything else. Chances are, it doesn't feel or sound like your piano. There is no sequencer or recorder of any kind. There are no drum sounds, save the ride cymbal which can be added to the bass. The keyboard sounds are of a very high quality, but the selection is far from exhaustive. This instrument was obviously designed to be used to perform live as a piano and/or a midi controller and its set up very well to do that.

I've had this digital piano for one month and a day. And so far this has proven to be a great board. I bought this piano for a country/variety gig here around town. But, I also wanted to have something I could play any piano gig with. If you're into piano playing, and don't want or need alot of patches, pound-for-pound, this one's the way to go. I wanted to wait a while before I wrote a review because I wanted to see really just this thing was made of. You see, I learned on an old 1947 upright grand, which was built like a tank, so I play really hard when I get into it. So far, this thing has shown that it can take a beating (though, I'm trying to control myself for the sake of the song, for color, expression and tone sake:-) For the money, I don't think it can be beat.
