Detailed Product Description

Vater Drum Sticks

Tradition of quality
The Vater factory produces over ten thousand sticks per day, which are shipped to over a thousand drum shops and music stores in thirty five countries. Founded by Jack Adams in the 1940's, Jack (a great drummer himself) started turning drumsticks for some of the greatest drummers of the day including Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson. The tradition of quality that Jack started provided the Vater family with a challenge; continue to improve and perfect the art and craft of drumstick making into the new millennium. By the way, Jack is Alan and Ron Vater's Grandfather, so you can see, quality truly is a family tradition. Today, the unmatched quality of Vater has attracted the top players in the world like Marvin "Smitty" Smith of the Tonight Show, Chad Smith, Virgil Donati and the list goes on and on. If you're already a Vater user, you know what real quality feels like every time you play. If you're not, What are you waiting for?

I had been using 747"s and a lot of 5A's and today just happened upon a pair of Vater Studio sticks that were in my stick box and jammed for about an hour with them and my session was so improved I had to get online and get a few more pair. They are thin long and fast and with the ball tip offer super articulation and sound on custom K’s and AAX’s was best I ever had.

They are just as advertised. I played Pro-Mark for about 2 years before grabbing a pair of 3As and instantly fell in love with them. They are extremely durable sticks and slowly just seem to "shred" away, instead of breaking, which I will take any day. They are extremely balanced, feel great, and I have had much better luck with them staying in my hands as they are not as slick as some of the others. I recommend Vater to everyone.

I've used the Vater Hickory sticks, in the Power 5A size, for about half a year now playing fairly consistently. For the most part, these sticks can put up with anything you put them through. I'm a fairly hard hitter, doing a lot of rimshots on my snare and a lot of cymbal work, as a result, my sticks get chewed up pretty fast. Even when there's about half the stick left on the rimshot area, they still don't break, unlike the Vic Firth's I've used previously. Although, I have had the chance to have a brand new one break about 2 minutes into a song, no other stick has done it since then. Also, the tips chip somewhat easily. But, that's pretty common with wood-tipped sticks, about one-third of the time or less. The sticks will be ever-so slightly warped, but it's hardly noticeable. Overall, these sticks are great! I've used them on tour as well as in the studio.
