I always played the Ottolink 8* until I tried out the Vandoren V16 Tip 95 There is a slightly better tonal quality in the Vandoren that keeps you guessing as to where does it come from? Amazingly a very good piece of work!

I've had three of these mouthpieces - one was stolen with a Keilwerth, one was borrowed from a friend while waiting on a replacement, and now I play the replacement on a new Keilwerth. The best part is they all played just as well as each other; Easy intonation, good on reeds, and a great, big, not-too-bright-but-still-contemporary sound. I recommend it to anyone looking for more from their hard rubber mouthpiece without going chamber-wild on a big bright metal piece. Hands down the best tenor mouthpiece I've played. I play the T75 model with V16 reeds and an Optimum ligature.

It has a very centered, dry, clear and dark tone. I couldn't help but think of early Coltrane... It definitely seemed to like harder reeds best, perhaps due to a longer facing.

Being mostly tenor player using this type of mouthpiece, for a long time I found the Otto Link STM 7* to be the best for me without breaking the bank. I one day decided to try the Vandoren V16 T75 based on input from others. I find the T75 to be a high quality piece, which may justify the much higher price. There isn't a slight rollover baffle like on the link, and the throat isn't quite as open, but what you get is a very high quality sound of a more modern character, but still somewhat similar to the Link, and not quite as dark sounding, which is an improvement for certain reeds. The machining is so excellent and the T75 bite plate is more impervious to tooth pressure. The Link is somewhat darker and slightly harder is play, but has a unique character worth keeping. I have decided to keep the T75 as well, as I believe it to be up there with the best mouthpieces of its type. It has a very good balance of tone and shapeable for a variety of sounds. The different pressures plates for the Optimum ligature is cool too, but I've just been using the one with the vertical rails, since it works so well.
