I do some of my own mouthpiece work and out of most of the mouthpieces I tried this was one that played right out of the box! The only adjustment I made was that I put a small baffle in it to give the tone a bit more focus. I felt it was very consistent in the way it plays and was very even going through the registers. The mouthpiece I feel is very well crafted! The facing and tip rail is beautifully made. Kudos to Vandoren.

I always played the Ottolink 8* until I tried out the Vandoren V16 Tip 95 There is a slightly better tonal quality in the Vandoren that keeps you guessing as to where does it come from? Amazingly a very good piece of work!

I've had three of these mouthpieces - one was stolen with a Keilwerth, one was borrowed from a friend while waiting on a replacement, and now I play the replacement on a new Keilwerth. The best part is they all played just as well as each other; Easy intonation, good on reeds, and a great, big, not-too-bright-but-still-contemporary sound. I recommend it to anyone looking for more from their hard rubber mouthpiece without going chamber-wild on a big bright metal piece. Hands down the best tenor mouthpiece I've played. I play the T75 model with V16 reeds and an Optimum ligature.

It has a very centered, dry, clear and dark tone. I couldn't help but think of early Coltrane... It definitely seemed to like harder reeds best, perhaps due to a longer facing.
