I really like this mute. I have not used any others, but it greatly reduces the volume of my violin and will come in handy when I am practicing in my college dorm next year. Good price too.

I have no experience to compare with other mutes, but this is handy to have when you want to play in a small room without blasting out the people around you. It changes the tone, keeping the sound inside the instrument more rather than projecting it out.
