Sluggish valve problem fixed by Superslick Valve Oil

I recently called the largest wind instrument repair shop in my area for suggestions about my cornet's sluggish first valve. I was advised by the brass repair tech to schedule a professional cleaning. He then asked which valve oil I was using. When I told him that I have always used Al Cass, he stated that his shop recommends Superslick exclusively, and urged me to try their lube products. He explained that they are the most consistently effective, and are completely compatible with the various metals used in horn construction. When I opened the Superslick bottle I noticed that the clear oil was practically odor-free, and that the bottle's plastic tip was longer, narrower and more tapering than the blunt-tipped Al Cass bottle, making contact all the way around the valve easier. I was delighted to see my unreliable first valve spring back to life with the very first application of Superslick. Its action was immediately fast and free, without hesitation. Valves 2 and 3 are likewise working noticeably better than before the switch. The ultrasonic cleaning will be done, but my valve problem has been fixed.
