I got this mic with a PGDMK6 drum mic kit from Shure. It works well for overheads (infact, fantastically for the price), however, its limited frequency response (40-18) means that it isn't quite the perfect mic for this application, at least not in the studio. I have however found it to be an absolutely fantastic mic on acoustic guitar, especially in A-B or X-Y stereo configurations. The slight peak in highs gives extra clarity to steal strings. In this application, I use it in preference to a number of large diaphragm condensors (AKG C3000B, Rode NT1A, Rode NT1000) as well as standard dynamic mics (SM57s etc). It also serves well on brass and orchestral string instruments, however be careful for it's somewhat exaggerated proximity effect. The only thing it really isn't much good for is vocals, where it picks up far too much breath noise.
