I desperately needed a reed earlier in the semester for our opera, so I ordered the cheapest reed I could find, which just so happened to be the Selmer reed. Although it needed a lot of work done on it before it was at its peak playing condition (like most reeds), I was very happy with the tone and playability. It was easy to break in, but this is probably because the cane is not high quality and wears out easily. Although I recommend it, I suggest buying at least two at a time because they do wear out fairly quickly. However, since the LaVoz is no longer on the market, I believe this is the best store-bought bassoon reed I have yet found.

This wonderful bassoon reed is tough and has very high quality. Was very easy to break in. I would recommend it for new bassoon students.
