He was a great man and incredible musician. I was fortunate to study with him in the late 1970s as a high school student. He was the real thing; not your typical head in the sand classical saxophonist. He knew about jazz, popular music, orchestral (assistant principle flute in the Detroit Symphony), and what it meant to survive in the music business before the "university gig." The Larry Teal creates a warm dark sound which is wonderful for performing classical music with band, orchestra, or any other arrangement of instruments.
