I have had this horn for about 4 years now. Excellent horn, I've had to take it to the shop maybe 3 times in the past 4 years for regular maintenance though. (Which is to be expected). Also expect to have to have it set up by a local tech. because it plays somewhat out of the box, but you really won't know what you got till its set up.

The Selmer Super Action 80 is the best tenor that you can get in my opinion, and others. With my history of tenors, I have played a Yamaha, Cannonball, and Selmer USA, but none of these can play the low B-flat as smoothly as this one.

I've been playing on several different types of saxophones for several years now. Prior to this horn, I played on a Yamaha YTS-62 for about two years and decided that I couldn't get anything more out of it than I was already pumping, so it was definitely time for a new saxophone. After playing this horn just once, I immediately fell in love with it. The feel that I could get out of it was just amazing. It was like nothing I have ever played on. The deep tone, amazing response, and just overwhelming power that was emitted from this saxophone was nothing to disregard. From the low Bb to the high F#, everything comes out cleanly with great intonation. Anyone looking for a great sax should definitely take a look at this.

I have worn out just about every make of pro tenor saxophone out there over the years and I keep coming back to the super action 80 series II. The Primary reason is the tone. There just isn't another horn with this much character and warmth to the tone. The compliments I get, even from the non musicians at my performances, almost always includes something about the amazing soulful tone that I get with this sax. The only criticism I have concerns the stock resonators, they are very quick to corrode if you dont keep this insturment perfectly clean and dry between performances.
