Goodbye Steel, Hello Synthetic!
Customer Rating

After years and years of those dreaded awful steel strings on my cello, I have finally upgraded to all synthetic. I have had a set of Aricores on my cello for almost a week now and they're finally settling in with my instrument. I have tried [Thomastik Spirocore] which were exceptional, but after a while they became too bright and had too much edge, especially on the lower strings. The A had that "twang" that drove me nuts. With Aricores, I can now play with confidence. Everything that I have always wanted in the terms of sound and playability and nothing less. I love the nice warm gut-like sound from these strings without the harshness, edginess, or brightness from other strings. I finally TONED IT DOWN. These will be my cello strings of choice from now on. The only drawback they take a while to stabilize--mainly because they're new strings and I'm just now getting used to synthetic. Try them!

My favorite cello strings

These are my favorite cello strings, and have been for many years. I also like Tomastik Dominants, but they don't seem to last very long before needing to be replaced. The Aircores have a brighter sound than the Dominants, which probably isn't ideal, but they last so much longer that I can put up with the brightness, which does fade over time.
