Product Description
Peter Ponzol
The most powerful Ponzol mouthpiece ever. More edge than the M2, more centered sound. Highly recommended for Keilwerth saxophones as it helps to center the sound.

About Ponzol Mouthpieces by Peter Ponzol

Description
Before you buy your next mouthpiece, ask this question. Is the maker a player and is every mouthpiece play tested? I also use CNC machines in my production, but don't let anyone tell you that the mouthpieces come off the machine ready to play. It's just not true! I play test every mouthpiece and make the final adjustments by hand to insure that each mouthpiece plays as intended. Who should find the mouthpieces that aren't quite ready, the maker or you?

Unique Features
All Ponzol mouthpieces are designed, finished and tested by Peter Ponzol. Metal mouthpieces are gold plated and every mouthpiece comes with a Rovner ligature and cap.

Try Them!!
It's very difficult to put into words what a mouthpiece sounds and plays like. The only way to know what works for you is to try it. The M2 Plus is the brightest of my mouthpieces, and the II-V-I the darkest. Yet I've had players tell me that they found the M2 dark and the other models bright. Since these are very subjective terms please don't be afraid to try different models.

I own a Keilwerth Shadow tenor and this mouthpiece is a terrific match. I have the newer "S" chamber model. Easy to play quietly or roar, low register or high. It is an agressive mouthpiece though, on the bright side and somewhat sensitive to embouchure or throat flucuations that can affect pitch if you're not careful. Very controllable though. I'm using Alexander DC #3 reeds and it gets a full sound with edge, not thin or shrill as some high baffle mouthpieces can be. If you need flexibility for covering both jazz and rock gigs, this mouthpiece can do both quite well. If you mainly want a dark jazz sound though, look elsewhere.

When looking for a new mouthpiece to use on my black nickel Keilwerth SX90R, I tried a friend's Sugal KWII. It was OK, but I was taken back about the price (I had just spent all of my money on the horn). I ran across the Ponzol in my research, but I didn't know anyone who'd played on it. The price was more in line, so I figured I would at least try it and then go to the Sugal if it didn't work out. Man! Was I surprised. This mpc definitely works for me and is a great fit for my horn. Free blowing, lots of edge when I need it, yet can become very soulful and smooth on a dime. Great intonation thru and thru. Sub-tones, altissimo - lots of character in my tone. I would definitely recommend you trying it out!
