The fidelity of the mic isn't anything to write home about, but for a first wireless, karaoke and emcee applications, it's certainly adequate. The mic element is prone to breakup in the signal, so screaming into this mic isn't recommended. It does seem to color the voice a bit, the low-mid frequencies seem to be a bit elevated. The coverage was good, I experienced a range of more than 100 ft with a fresh battery, in less than optimal conditions (the receiver was next to a computer). I did not test the limits of the range. I'm a musician, not a DJ, but was asked to do this job for a friend, and the last thing I wanted was for someone to accidentally drown my expensive wireless mic in a beer. I would have certainly expected to pay $100 or more.
