Product Overview and Specifications
Legacy FSE

Legacy FS
The Legacy FS is the perfect mandolin selection for players seeking an instrument that is a step up! The FS's solid spruce top is deeply carved and carefully graduated for better tone. It has a solid maple back and top quality Grover tuners. The FS is the only Michael Kelly model to feature Abalone Block inlays. These inlays have a rich appearance and showcase the beautiful shell.

Sound first
At Michael Kelly, they put sound first. Unlike the other under $1,000 mandolins they have adopted the specifications and building methods of collectible classic mandolins. They start with a careful fit dovetail neck joint and a solid spruce top. These are the most important two points to mandolin tone. They use a thin top with carefully trimmed bracing. They do additional hand carving on select spots on the top, thinning out specific areas to tune it. They have also increased the depth of their mandolins compared to other mandolins for under a grand. The combination of detailed crafting, classic construction and best-in-class materials is what separates Michael Kelly from other similarly priced musical instruments.

Fishman Electronics
Mandolins are being used in more different styles of music and venues. For years players have been seeking a way to add a pickup to their mandolin. While many options exist, most are cumbersome and sound thin. Michael Kelly teamed with Fishman Electronics, a company considered the leader in acoustic instrument amplification to develop a new and improved solution. This new system is fully integrated into the mandolin during production. No fragile external pieces, each mandolin is build for this application. The Fishman pickup is mounted inside of a special bridge. The system includes a side mounted active EQ. This allows users to easily adjust treble, bass and volume right on their instrument. The fully integrated MK design assures great amplified tone, durability and adjustability. Each mandolin also provides the great MK tone acoustically that Michael Kelly users are accustomed to.

nice sounding, had to make several adjustments on the bridge - that's okay. I feel if I'm paying good money for this product I should get good craftsmanship, I guess the product control guy took the day off when mine rolled out of the factory. I complained to Michael Kelly (company) they replied with "we care more about the sound than the look" so. I give this mandolin 6 out of 10 I just purchased an Epiphone mm50 and the craftsmanship is better and the sound comparable.
