Product Description
Meinl Weston
A full sized CC tuba that is very popular as a solo, quintet and small ensemble horn with a lovely sound. Developed in conjunction with Sam Pilafian this horn has excellent features.
Product Overview and Specifications
Model 2145

This full-sized tuba is small in appearance but surprising due to the power and projection of the sound emitted. This is an ideal instrument for general playing, especially if you own only a single tuba or need a high quality instrument for the unpredictable demands of free-lancing. This instrument is at home as a solo instrument, in chamber music, in average-sized orchestras, or lighter orchestral repertoire. The piston valves feature over-sized valve buttons for ease of use and the highest quality piston valves on the market today. This instrument was designed in cooperation with Sam Pilafian.

Each instrument is engineered to fulfill specific needs of the modern tubist while maintaining a dense, rich characteristic sound which has long been associated with the Meinl-Weston instruments. In order to produce a line of instruments particularely suited to the American market, each instrument was designed in close cooperation with many professional tubists. All instruments feature ergonomic design making these instruments particularly comfortable and easy to play. Main tuning slides are vertical pull and valve slides are arranged for easy access.

“I used it” for All City this year and WOW, it’s great. The lows and highs are smooth and it’s very free blowing.

I've played for about 20 years now, and have played nothing but the 2145 for close to 7 years. I have yet to find a situation into which this instrument does not fit. Some of the heavy orchestral stuff that I play makes me wish for one of the big bore monsters, but I somehow seem to plug right along on my "little" Meinl. This horn is a great all-around muliti tasker.
