Detailed Product Description

The Martin DX-1

Martin sets the standard for acoustic guitars, and since 1833 has been a leader in guitar innovation and craftsmanship

Everyone from Eric Clapton to Sting to Johnny Lang has played a Martin guitar, and professionals and amateurs alike know the bright sparkle and deep, resonant tone that Martin guitars have become famous for, from the most high end acoustics to the Backpacker.

Carefully hand-selected tonewoods, master craftsmanship and beautiful finishes and styles make Martin acoustics a class all their own, and must be played to be believed.

The neck on all X-series is made from resin-impregnated wood veneers pre-stained for color called Stratabond. Pound for pound, compared to solid wood, Stratabond has greater durability, and the luthiers at Martin realized it would make for a more durable instrument capable of taking punishment and still performing.

X Series These guitars feature a wood fiber composite laminate body construction, a patented neck mortise, and unique DX-bracing on models with HPL tops.

I tried it out there when I had been pittling with a guitar for about 6 months, I now can appreciate this fine Martin even better now that I have learned more about playing. Even thou I waited till I was about 48 years old to start to learn to play one, I'm no stranger from hearing Martin guitars all my life. My dad played a D-28 that was about a 48 model. Now this Dx1 doesn't quite sound as good as the D-28, but you are only paying about a fifth of what one cost. This guitar has the Martin sound through out. The deep bass and the melody sound. I took my Martin to a store and was going to swap it in on a D-15 and I played mine and the store salesman played the D-15, My Dx-1 sounded BETTER than the $1000.00+ Martin. I bought me a in the hole pickup (L R Baggs M1active sound hole magnetic pickup, $169.00 but worth every penny) for it and it went back home with me. If you have about $2500.00 buy a D-28, if you have less, I would by the DX1. Try them out against the ones costing 2-3 times more and see what you go home with. God Bless,
