My 5-1/2 year old daughter started using my old 1/4 violin that needed a new case so I purchased this case for her and I am very glad that I did! The case is fairly light (much lighter than some of the "student case" type which can be quite heavy), compact, sturdy and well padded. Since it's a 1/4 size so the inside isn't that big but the compartment is large enough to put a rosin and the Kuhn shoulder rest fits where the neck is. No latches to close the case but just the zippers (I'm more used to the latch and zipper type) but it has never been in danger of opening by itself. There are two handles so you can hold it horizontally or vertically. My daughter especially loves the backpack feature and she never complains about carrying the case by herself.

Wonderful violin case!

This is a wonderful violin case. The inside is nicely padded and contains a cubby for the rosin plus enough room beside the neck for a shoulder rest. The exterior is sturdy and durable with a nice, roomy pocket and heavy duty zippers. I use one carrying strap (two are provided to carry like a backpack), and it is quite comfortable. I looked at several cases, but I'm glad I chose this one.
