Product Overview and Specifications
Standard French Model Flute

Originally hand-crafted by a gifted young silversmith, Haynes continues to create flutes and piccolos that reflect the very same unmistaken passion for excellence... over a century later. William S. Haynes, son of a sea captain and a Virginia school teacher, opened his flutemaking shop in historic Boston in 1888

From the onset, Haynes labored tirelessly to improve the unique sound of his instrument, experimenting with materials, mechanics, and headjoint design. And the tradition continues

Today, a dynamic group of true artisans strive to perpetuate this coveted heritage. As a result, the Wm. S. Haynes Company preserves the recognized position of world leader in craftsmanship and innovative design.

Haynes flutes are revered worldwide by legendary artists of the past and present. The Haynes Standard French model is known for outstanding intonation as well as superb craftsmanship and tonal quality. A must try for any professional looking for an affordable instrument.

I purchased my Haynes flute through WWBW. At first, I was a little skeptical, but I knew I could always return it with no hassle if I did not like it. It arrived in great packaging, undamaged. It is a beautiful flute with a pure, sweet tone. The action of the keys is light but not too light. It plays very well in tune. My only complaint is that when playing with others, I do have to pull the headjoint out quite far. The response is quick and accurate, and I am very happy with the evenness of the sound in all registers. I previously played on a Powell, and I could never get the flute to respond the way I thought it should. One thing I have noticed with all handmade Haynes flutes is that the footjoint rollers and D# key never line up perfectly. Not a huge problem and one that any good repairman can probably adjust. I will be keeping this flute for many years.
