Product Description
Guardala
The Guardala Studio tenor saxophone mouthpiece plays with tremendous volume and unexcelled resonance. The ideal fusion jazz mouthpiece, the Guardala Studio's response is full, balanced and well projects the entire overtone series. Made of silver or gold plated bar brass, the Guardala Studio tenor saxophone mouthpiece incorporates a high baffle with a medium bore for extra bite in the sound. A sound that is clearly demonstrated by Michael Brecker in the period 1979-1982 (Brecker Brothers' Band). Complete with ligature and cap.
Product Overview and Specifications
Guardala Lazer Trimmed Mouthpieces

Description
As the pioneer of handmade, CNC-machined mouthpieces, Dave Guardala possesses an exceptional ear. His gifts of discerning ever so slight shifts in tone quality is only matched by his entrepreneurial pursuits to develop products that enable artists to hit their marks. Through the use of new technology, Dave has once again raised the bar - introducing the next generation of saxophone mouthpieces: the Dave Guardala Laser Trimmed line. In short, this cutting edge technology allows Dave to clone his legendary handmade mouthpiece models and provide them for considerably less. Laser Trimmed models are produced and replicated to within tolerances never thought possible. The result is uncanny. At a clinic demonstration at the University of Nevada, Reno, world-renowned artist Tom Scott put the new mouthpieces to test. After comparing five of the same models, Tom stood speechless - unable to detect a single difference between them. He left playing one, and continues using one today. Whether it's an original handmade design or the latest Laser Trimmed model, Dave Guardala products give saxophonists the ideal blend of performances and playability. But, until you compare these magnificent models for yourself, nothing will convince you otherwise. The proof is in the sound.

I received the Guardala studio a few weeks ago and enjoy it very much. I'm not particularly a loud player, but when I put the studio on immediately it was extremely loud. Considering I'm more of a contemporary player, it's probably not the best choice, I heard that Guardala's can also be very smooth sounding if you work on it which is very hard to do (probably not best on this one). My Otto link RG does a very good job of making a more contemporary sound. The first thought that came to my mind with this mouthpiece was tower of power, along with any funk band. It's very good in the low and high registers and is just missing some strength in the mids, also there are a lot of clarity issues considering the tip opening. That could be just me. I’ll probably mainly stick with the RG but I'm sure it will come in handy someday in college.

This truly is an amazing mouthpiece! In the last 2 years I've tried them all: Dukoff, Lawton, Link, Lebayle, Vandoren etc. Name them and I've had them, yet I couldn't find my sound. I've always wanted to have a Guardala MP, but they were/are just too expensive. This is a perfect alternative for an amazing price! The only bad thing is the ligature. It just doesn't fit! I've just tried to put a reed on and got scratches on top of my Guardala, the lig is way too small! I was angry about the scratching untill I played the mouthpiece (with a different lig). This is the best there is! Rich, high, warm, low and the altissimo just pops out really easy (up to the fourth G on tenor) and it sounds huge. If you order this mouthpiece then order a different ligature, such as the Selmer ligature for metal alto mouthpiece (Item # 80539). I'm selling all my other mouthpieces, this is THE ONE!
