Product Overview and Specifications
Guardala Lazer Trimmed Mouthpieces

Description
As the pioneer of handmade, CNC-machined mouthpieces, Dave Guardala possesses an exceptional ear. His gifts of discerning ever so slight shifts in tone quality is only matched by his entrepreneurial pursuits to develop products that enable artists to hit their marks. Through the use of new technology, Dave has once again raised the bar - introducing the next generation of saxophone mouthpieces: the Dave Guardala Laser Trimmed line. In short, this cutting edge technology allows Dave to clone his legendary handmade mouthpiece models and provide them for considerably less. Laser Trimmed models are produced and replicated to within tolerances never thought possible. The result is uncanny. At a clinic demonstration at the University of Nevada, Reno, world-renowned artist Tom Scott put the new mouthpieces to test. After comparing five of the same models, Tom stood speechless - unable to detect a single difference between them. He left playing one, and continues using one today. Whether it's an original handmade design or the latest Laser Trimmed model, Dave Guardala products give saxophonists the ideal blend of performances and playability. But, until you compare these magnificent models for yourself, nothing will convince you otherwise. The proof is in the sound.

I have been playing the studio gold for 4 or 5 years now. I have played every conceivable piece out there and the Guardala studio is a force to be reckoned with. The softest soft, the loudest loud, the most in tune, the best balance in the extreme registers, and all with the prettiest tone you'll ever have. You must know there is only one (1) opening which is about like an 8. This will be the free-est blowing 8 you have ever played outside of maybe Jody's DV. I bought this when they were "clearing" them out at $379. At the current price it is a STEAL. Want brighter? Get the king or super king. Want mellow? Get the crescent. Want it all? Get the studio gold.

I bought the studio for tenor on a friend’s advice and I am very happy with it. I was able to project easily with control not to over blow. I was also able to play with a mellow tone to blend more. Intonation was no problem as well as the altissimo register. I am using Java 2 1/2 and 3's as well as Jazz select 2M and 3S. Most importantly about reeds is use what you feel comfortable with. A great mouthpiece worth the price for the serious player.
