I play in one of the best middle school band programs in the nation and all of my band friends agree that my tone and intonation is great when I play my Conn 6D. I have recently gone to an extremely large camp where they classify you in 4 different bands (1st being the best, 4th being the worst). I made 1st chair 1st band when I played my Conn 6D.

I used a Conn 6D at college this year. This horn is really on the sharp side; I had the main tuning slide all the way out, and it was still sharp on some notes, but part of that is because I don't put my hand as far in the bell as most hornists do. I really like the valve action and the low back pressure. I got more range in the upper register on a Holton 180, but for playing fast passages with a lot of articulation, I liked the Conn better.
