Within the past few years, I purchased a low cost violin case here and was pleasantly surprised by the features. This one was a little bit more money, so I was expecting more. It does have a lock and key, which most low cost cases don't. But when I opened it up, I was a bit surprised. I went to put a violin in, and it didn't sit very well. The contour of the case made it difficult to put the violin in, and I had to be careful not to tilt it. The bottom didn't seem to be supported, so I tried another violin to see if there was a difference. The other one didn't sit very well either, but when I took the other violin out of its case, I noticed that the cheaper case had padding in appropriate places, while this similar one did not. I went back to the website to check the picture to make sure it wasn't a defect, and sure enough the one pictured is the same. It will probably do its job just fine, and hold your violin, several bows, and whatever fits in the compartments. But if you touch either side of the lower bout of the violin, it will rock and it does not feel seated.
