This horn lets me save my pro sax from day-to-day wear. After a few tweaks, it gives the tone & response needed, and it does come with all you need to start playing right away. The downsides are minor and are typical of inexpensive horns: wide pitch differential from low to high registers, pitch discrepancies in some slide keys, an awkward thumbrest position, and more reach required on spatula keys. I also received (though it may not be typical) a neckpiece with the key mechanism bent into an unplayable position, despite much packaging protection. But after bending it into place and after using a different mouthpiece & reed, I was able to reproduce the sound I get on my pro horn - a feat that many inexpensive horns simply cannot accomplish. The action responds well for high velocity playing and allows for nice bends & slides in slower tempos. This is a good horn for beginners who have guidance & for experienced players who can adapt it to their needs.

Received the sax today (July 31, 2008) and used it to play a gig this evening. Blows easy and sounds good with my French jazz reeds. It's hard to believe that, at 67, I still have enough wind to blow the big saxes, but I can handle this one. Since my bari is in the shop, this will be my mainstay for the rest of the summer. Woodwind & Brasswind is a great outfit. I highly recommend them.

I just wanted to add that it does come with a high F# key, and that the case is okay. The case is kinda flimsy.

I’ve tried a couple of tenor Saxes, but they were either crappy or blew my budget out the window. This sax plays well and is at a ridiculous price. Trust me, it’s worth the price.

This is definitely a beautiful instrument... absolutely gorgeous. Even though I'm an experienced player - due to recent circumstances this was all I could get.
