Product Overview and Specifications
Challenger Series Trumpets

Continuing the Tradition
It is now six years since the first Challenger trumpets were produced at Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik. That is a very short time in comparison with the long centuries of instrument-making tradition of the Vogtland region of Saxony. The exceptional achievement of producing a complete range of instruments within just five years, which finds the enthusiastic approval of musicians across the world, is still unparalleled.

Outstanding Support
Looking back at recent years, it is thanks to the many musicians who supported the development of the Challenger series that has made it a true force in the world market. Normally, great soloists and orchestral musicians are highlighted, but especially in the case of the development work for the Challenger I Bb trumpet (a step-up instrument which offers excellent value for money, together with fine performance and is especially suited to students) the suggestions from teachers, who best know their students' needs, were a great help.

In my view, It feels exactly the way a C trumpet should feel. Freeblowing with just enough resistance to suit me. Great tone and intonation. I've had Benge, Bach and Conn trumpets in C and this one is my favorite. I'm considering the B Flat as a result of my experience with the C. As always, WWBW service and shipping was first rate.

I really missed having a C trumpet. I have gradually been building up my trumpet kit since selling some of my horns when I quit college 25 years ago. The past 10 years I have gotten into playing trumpet again, big time. I bought a Strad D/Eb a few years ago and love playing it. I decided I needed a C again. Since money was a big factor this time around, I was all set to buy the inexpensive Blessing and put up with its limitations. Tom at B&W talked me out of buying the cheap Blessing and buying a "not factory sealed" B&S Challenger that I got for under $1000. What a great horn. It plays and feels just like my Strad. I don't play a Strad Bb, but a Benge. I used to have a Strad C and there is just a certain feel about a Strad. This is how this horn feels. I am so pleased by it, and I really got a great deal on it. I highly recommend it, especially if you can find one, like I did, that was not factory sealed. It was brand new, without a scratch on it, and it cost under a grand. Valves and intonation are terrific. Nothing to complain about.
