Why Woodwind & Brasswind ?

Amrein Tone Enhancers are designed to help focus a player’s sound by preventing sympathetic vibrations of the instrument bell, especially at high dynamic levels. The sound of the instrument is projected forward to offer a greater tonal center and projection. The Amrein Tone Enhancers are constructed of brass with a cork lining to prevent scratches to the finish of the bell and are available for trumpet or trombone.

This is ideal for the following situation: I play principal trumpet in a small orchestra that performs in an extremely live room , a brass player's nightmare! Sounds produced by a trumpet (especially notes above the staff) are usually too much for the ensemble. The tone enhancer dampens enough of the upper overtones that it allows me to play at a more comfortable dynamic level without getting "palmed." By cutting the upper partials it makes the core of the sound more prominent, yielding a darker tone - ideal for a classical orchestral setting. What a lifesaver!
