This instrument has very good sound quality in the lower registers (below the break) but suffers a little in the middle (b-e) ranges. As with any instrument this long, alignment of the barrel is crucial, even a millimeter off makes a big difference. The instrument I purchased, when aligned for playing is slightly mis-aligned in appearance--the upper part of the barrel is twisted slightly to the right compared to the lower portion. It's not really noticable except to the performer and is cosmetic only, not affecting performance. The price is right and over all I find this clarinet to be a very good value.
