Alesis makes it affordable and easy to interface your mixer with a computer! With the Multimix USB series, you cannot only use your mixer for traditional applications (live sound, rehearsal, live recording), but the handy USB interface makes it easy to record to your computer as well (the unit ships with a free copy of "Cubase LE" recording software). The hook up requires only ONE USB cable, and is "plug and play" so your computer automatically sets up your inputs and outputs for you! The Multimix 8USB features 4 microphone inputs and 2 stereo line level inputs, plus effects, and a 3 band EQ |

The MultiMix 8USB has 4 high-gain mic/line inputs. All MultiMix USBs have 100 28-bit onboard preset effects including reverbs, delays, chorus, flanging, pitch and multi-effects, a 3-band EQ per channel with high/low shelving and mid band pass/reject. All have Plug and play operation under Windows and Mac OS.

Solid mixer, good sound, easy to hook up to your computer, what more do you want? I found the free software a little intimidating at first, because it really is a pro piece of software, but I figured it out pretty quickly. As far as just doing simple recording (heck, I was using a cassette 4 track!), it's totally easy.

This mixer is a great value simply because of the software that is included. I bought this mixer for my band to use at practice (I just need a couple of microphone inputs), but I decided to dig a little deeper and hook it up to my computer. I am no "tech wiz", but this thing popped right up as a plug and play USB hardware connection, so it was super easy. I installed the free version of Cubase light, and it totally rocks!
I am doing computer multi-track recording, and it couldn't have been easier. I am having a blast with this thing...I don't know if I should be thanking Alesis or the people at Cubase (both I guess), but this little mixer has opened up a whole new world for me. You CANNOT beat the price for what you get with this. Needless to say, I am very happy!
