Product Description
AKG
How do you improve a classic? Very carefully! The C-1000S II from AKG improves on the original by adding a battery indicator on the front, and by improving the internal electronics for lower noise and better sound. The C-1000S capsule remains the same, so you can feel confident that this mic will be compatible with older C-1000S. This is one of the most versatile and popular condenser microphones on the planet, and comes packed in a cool "road case"!
Product Overview and Specifications
C-1000S II

NEW VERSION-Improved performance
The C-1000S II improves on a classic microphone with a battery indicator on the front panel, as well as improved electronics for quieter, more reliable performance. The C-1000S is already one of the world's most highly regarded condenser microphones for stage and studio use, and the C1000S II will not disappoint!

Famous for its flexibility, the affordable C1000S II condenser microphone is ready for any assignment on stage or in the studio. Sometimes you have phantom power, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you need a cardioid pattern, other times greater directivity can help you minimize leakage or control feedback. Of course, you always need high sensitivity, high SPL handling with low distortion, and extended frequency response. That s why thousands of sound professionals rely on the C1000S as their "do-it-all" microphone.

Included PPC1000 polar pattern converter allows quick changeover from cardioid to hypercardioid when a more directional pickup pattern is required, and powering is by internal 9 V battery or external phantom supply. Silent on/off switch is recessed to prevent inadvertent shutoff. The also included and attachable Presence Boost Adapter piece PB1000 creates an emphasis of the higher frequencies around 5 to 9 kHz by about 3 to 5 dB, which not only improves the transmission of sibilances but may be also advantageous when recording instruments with a larger high frequency content in their audio spectrum. Rugged construction qualifies the C1000S for demanding road work, yet pristine condenser response and very low noise make it an excellent choice for recording in home/project studios. Stand adapter, foam windscreen, and case included.

I have tested numerous microphones. I chose the C1000S because it was the most affordable model for a poor road musician like myself and it was said to be the most versatile microphone in existence. I'd trade any of my "live show" horns for a C1000S because the mics sound that good. They lean towards a bright tone, but they have enough mid and low to retain the original crisp and clear sound of my horn both in the studio and on the gig. I've been using the C1000 for around 9 months now and never has it failed me; not once. The adapters that come with it are SO handy for different applications, and the 9V phantom power backup has been used numerous times. The windscreen is just icing on the cake, and the stand clamp that comes with it fits like a glove. Five stars and still impressing.

I work in news and use the C1000s as a "shotgun" mic when I use the hypercardioid attachment. You don't get the "reach" of a true shotgun like the 416 but in 90% of my work I do not need to go deep and I would rather have the great frequency response and richness of the vocals. I also like the fact that in other applications (like recording music while on the job) it is OUTSTANDING! I have been given "atta boy" for great sound in a situation where most soundpersons would use a conventional shotgun.
